Here's a story I started a couple of weeks ago and just finished today. It's kind of about one of NaNoWriMo characters, but it can easily be a stand-alone story. Enjoy.
( Leo's Story )
Now I really, really have to do homework. I'm kind of freaking out. But I wanted to finish this first.

As if Brian Kinney didn't think of this YEARS ago.
Oh, wait. That's not the real world.
But this is. Woot. Of course, it's only airing in Europe (I think.) America sucks. Now FBI agents are going to come take my computer away. At least I'll have an excuse not to do homework then.

It's strange to think that just two days ago, I took a half-hour walk around Ithaca and only my face felt cold. Now, I feel like I'll turn into a popsicle if I stay outside for more than a few minutes. My room is cold for the first time I can remember, and I almost got hypothermia in the dining hall this morning because I didn't wear a sweater (it's usually tropical temps in there!) I am definitely getting a ride to town today, there is now way I'm walking down to the library in this weather...applesauce, I need a car! (I was randomly looking at a list of 20s slang yesterday and now I want to use them all the time.)
It seems like I'm having one of those days. My shower was an adventure this morning. First, I was two scared to even get in the shower because there was something red on the floor of it, and I'm paranoid so I thought it was blood even though it was probably cinnamon toothpaste (I hate it when people brush their teeth in the shower.) But there weren't any other showers open. So I kind of woke up on the wrong end of the showers, if you will.
I actually got some homework done this morning. Go me! I usually don't get anything done in the mornings.
That's all, I guess. Wow, this was a really boring journal entry. I just felt like writing an entry even though I didn't have anything to say.
Oh, one more thing. I have to write a poem for class and I am freaking out. In addition to writing the poem, I have to read like a million pages and write a three page essay analyzing the poetry found within the reading. I want to drop the class, seriously. But I don't think I can.
OH, WOE IS ME.
Don't you see
This class is making me crazy
I can not write poetry
Someone get me some tea!

I'm back at Wells. Everything is back to normal; tribal screaming can be heard from next door, that girl is sobbing into her cell-phone in the chair outside the room, the fridge, now free of mold after a rather unpleasant cleaning, is humming quietly in the background. The ramen bowls and granola bars stand at their places, ready for a call of hunger from a student studying hard/vegging out on Livejournal. Tomorrow will likely be a quiet day, but on Tuesday, classes start, and then it's back to work, squeezing in papers in between club meetings, work, and *gasp* a social life. Ahh, college.

After watching a few minutes of news, that is. Apparently my crazy dad's ideas about the "Panic of '08," garnered from listening to too much "Talk of the Nation" and "Science Friday" may actually be true, because the economy is going to hell in a handbasket already and it's only January.
Also, Heath Ledger died. This makes me very sad. He was a great actor, one of my favorites. He was brilliant in Brokeback Mountain.
I was actually thinking about fame and mortality the other day (leave me alone, it's J-term, okay?), because I was listening to Morrissey. It's cool that Morrissey is a rock star who didn't kill himself with drugs and whatever, and that he's still alive to make awesome music.
( Like this. )
And because I'm posting lyrics by Morrissey, behold the song that opens the soundtrack to my life:
( How Soon is Now? )
And, for more lyric pleasure, Elvis Costello's ( River in Reverse )
And a slightly more upbeat song by Muse: ( Invincible )
Cut-and-paste, just like in kindergarten. This has officially lifted my mood.
EDIT:
I feel emo again now. I just remembered that tonight is the finale forever of Life on Mars, an absolutely awesome show on BBC. Everyone, go and rent the DVDs, if they exist. It's basically about this police guy who has an accident and gets sent back to 1970s London. It's amazing, and now they're ending it because they sold it to an American network. Americans always ruin British shows, though. Remember that hotel show that debuted this year? No? Exactly my point. It used to be a cool British show, too.

I just finished Ironside, the sequel to Tithe, and it was just as amazing as I had expected. I love Kaye and Roiben. And Corny and Luis. Actually I wasn't so fond of Luis at first, but he won me over. xD There's actually still one more book, which *technically* I was supposed to read before Ironside, but it's just a prequel/spinoff type thing and I just needed to know what happened to Kaye.
Speaking of books...I went to the Barnes and Noble in Pittsford yesterday, and I got three books for like five bucks, which is amazing these days. I got them all from the bargain bins. The funny thing is, when I got home, I noticed that one of the books was from 1977. So after thirty years, THEN they put books on sale.
I also went to the central branch of the Rochester library yesterday. I've never been to a big city library before. Now I'm going to be depressed every time I go to my local library. The teen section alone was to die for. Both Aurora and Cohocton only have a teeny-tiny shelf for the teen books. (TEEN-y tiny. HA.) I went to Savoia's, too, and this new (to me) Italian deli called Rubino's. It made me really want to study abroad in Italy. Now I have to take a year of Italian next year. Why did I take Spanish? Gah!
The smiley lemon poked its tongue out at me. I was wondering why the "giggly" icon was a straight face, and I was looking at it, and that tongue poked out, and I was like...o.O Okay then.
More because I got bored!:
The other day I wrote down all of my potential long story/novel ideas. I have like four. That should keep me busy for a while. I'm actually finally making progress on the one I was working on again. I just have to keep myself from writing one-shots about other, irrelevant characters.
I can't wait to go back to Wells! I miss it so much, and I am starting to go crazy here!

I just finished Tithe by Holly Black and I loved it. At first I wasn't sure about it because it seemed sort of like a copy of Charles de Lint or Francesca Lia Block, but once I got into it, it definitely proved itself. Not to mention that I love the male lead, who is somewhat like Edward Cullen, but we don't have to be annoyed by the female lead always going on about his marble chest or whatever.
Quote of the Day: "Let's just say I got inside the cloak..."
(You need to have read it. =P)
Speaking of Edward, they cast him and Bella for the Twilight movie, and I think that both actors were bad choices. Robert Pattinson, who played Cedric Diggory in the Harry Potter movies, is cast as Edward. He's okay, but not perfect for the role. I really think that they should have just found some unknown actors, because no matter what, people are going to be thinking about their past roles when they see the movie. Bella is Kristen Stewart, who was in the movies Panic Room and Speak, two movies I didn't like. And I don't think she looks very Bella-ish. I think they should have gotten Amber Tamblyn or someone like that for Bella, someone who looks a little more normal. And Cillian Murphy is playing the bad guy, Laurent. Which I have no problem with because Cillian Murphy is hot and I would like him in any role. I can't wait to see how he pulls off a French accent.

Stuff I got for Christmas!
-Lots of books, including 4 books about books, The Virginia Woolf Writer's Workshop, and the new Charles de Lint book. <3
-CDs: Against Me, The Killers, and A Fine Frenzy
-A really nice photo book with pictures I took in France and at graduation.
-A printer for my dorm room!
-A really nice velvet coat.
-Red cashmere (<3) scarf and glove set.
-A completely awesome sweater that has a map of France on it, which would look really dowdy if I was an old woman but I can pull it off because I'm a college student.
-A watch that has a broad leather band embroidered with flowers.
-A new pair of converse that are black with cherries on them.
-A Lia Sophia necklace that has a reversable charm, woot.
-The 2007 NaNoWriMo poster. <3
All of that from my parents and "Santa." Hey, being an only child has its perks.

First of all, I have to say, I want my two thousand degree radiator that keeps the dorm room a comfortable temperature, say where you can fry an egg on the floor! It's really cold in here. Now, I know that most of you don't really care about my current temperature, but another thing is, I'm kind of bored. No homework, no Onyx articles to write, no meetings at ten o' clock at night, no friends down the hall I can go and annoy...I can't decide if this is a good thing or a bad thing!
I've watched a movie almost every day since vacation started. The other night I watched this one called The Curse of the Golden Flower, which was one of those Chinese ninja/samurai movies, like Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. It was really nice and depressing. There's just something about a movie in which the majority of the main characters die. (*cough* Actually I just like the cool martial arts battles...)
I have also done a ton of writing since I got here. I'm writing two novels at once, which is weird, but it's working. I'm working on the one I started a while ago, and my NaNoWriMo. I was going to just revise the NaNo, maybe add a few sentences here and there, but I've added at least ten pages since I started "revising." But I'm almost done with it! It's really exciting.

Thanksgiving Break is over, and I'm back at Wells. It's a little depressing. I always hate the day after a break, when the dorm is still quiet and I just hang out in my room being all down in the dumps. Then the next day it's back to the grindstone! I don't really have much to say, I'm just kind of bored.
NaNoWriMo is almost over! I have a little over 40,000 words right now, and I should have 50,000 by the end of the month. I actually really like how the novel is turning out, and it definitely energized me to get back to work on Applerow, my "real" novel. (NaNoWriMo was just self-indulgent character development, really.) Everyone who has read the excerpt liked it, so I guess that's a good thing. Even if most of the people who read it are my friends, so they aren't going to be like "Yeah, I read your excerpt, it sucked."
Well I guess that's all, tomorrow is a busy day. Until next time!

I get to go home today. I'm looking forward to it a lot. Real food! Decent showers! A comfy bed! Television!
The past few weeks have been SUPER busy. But last weekend was really exciting and it cheered me up after a kind of crappy week. On Saturday Jenny and I went to the mall, which turned out to be the smallest mall ever, but it was still fun. Then we got home and we were hungry, and we ended up going to the Aurora Inn for dinner, which was amazingly expensive, but really good. Mine was, anyway. I felt bad for Jenny, she didn't even like what she got!
Aahhh...fooooddd....how I have missed youuuu! But don't worry, we will soon be reunited!

Well, here it is, my blog. Because I'm a nerd, I decided to use LiveJournal, instead of Myspace, because Myspace is stupid. However, this probably means that no one will look at it. I don't believe anyone else I know is on LJ, and I doubt that some random person is going to type in a search that will cause them to stumble across this. And I don't really feel like going to my friends and being like, "Hey, I have a blog! Go to www.blahblah.com now!"
Anyway, I'm going to try not to talk too much about my daily life in here, but about whatever it is I'm reading/watching/listening to/(Writing?) at the moment.
Right now I'm mostly thinking about the last Harry Potter book. =( I hate how everyone is saying how they're so disappointed in. Personally, I thought it was perfect. I was a little depressed that certain people were killed off, but I'm not going to send hate letters to JKR or anything about it. If she felt she had to kill those people off to complete her artistic vision, then so be it. Sometimes a character just has to go. At any rate, I thought that everything made sense in the end. The only thing I thought was kind of stupid was when Ron spoke parseltongue. I'm not sure if making hissy sounds would really work...but I'm not complaining.
So after Harry Potter I read some short stories by David Leavitt. The thing about David Leavitt is that when you read just one or two stories by him, you're like, "Shards this is good, the guy's a poet!" But then on your third or fourth one you're like "Wow, this is perverse!" Then I read a Fruits Basket. Shigure is so hawt!
And on that note, I bid you adieu.
PS: Why does the lemon have a moustache?
